LONDON: David Luiz is confident Arsenal’s win over Newcastle United last week is a sign of the team’s progress.

Arsenal will face Newcastle again early tomorrow morning Malaysia time in the English Premier League (EPL), nine days after the FA Cup 2-0 victory.

“It shows our maturity. It proves how much we manage to travel one match at a time.

“We realize there are tough matches to score, and there are definitely times when we will not win.

“But our team is showing improvement – we understand how to manage the game.

“Sometimes the match is as difficult as last week, but we are mature enough and stay calm to win the match,” Luiz said.

Arsenal failed to score Crystal Palace in the EPL action last Thursday and were just a goalless draw.

However, they still collected 10 points out of the total 12 offered in the last four league games.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta urged his men to be sharper in front of goal when they met Newcastle.

“We did a lot of good things against Newcastle last week but did not take advantage of the opportunity.

“We need to be sharper in front of goal and create more opportunities,” Arteta said.
