LONDON: Gareth Bale scored twice in Tottenham’s 4-0 win over Burnley at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

After five defeats in their last six Premier League games, Tottenham temporarily eased the pressure on their manager Jose Mourinho.

Bale, who has been featured in the starting line-up for league action for the third time since the start of the season, proves he is still capable of making a huge contribution to the team.

It was the Wales star’s best performance since being loaned out by Real Madrid this season where he blasted four goals in his last four appearances.

Bale only needed 68 seconds to open the net as a result of Son Heung-min’s cross.

The four-time Champions League champions then made the pass for Harry Kane’s 22nd goal of the season.

Lucas Moura also found the target before Bale scored his second goal, also due to Heung-min’s pass.

Tottenham, who played less than one game, are now in eighth place, six points behind the top four.

“There is not a single operator who will not bring down Gareth Bale if he is at a good level.

“Now he is in better condition than before. It is not just because he scored two goals, but his physical performance,” Mourinho said.
