Can Arsenal Surprise Spurs?

Jose Mourinho’s squad, Tottenham Hotspur, continued to excel as they remained ahead of the English Premier League (EPL) chart for two consecutive weeks after snatching them from the reigning champions, Liverpool.

Last week, they faced a tough test at Stamford Bridge, but managed to steal one point after tying Chelsea 0-0. And quite fortunate after close rivals Liverpool drew 1-1 against Brighton while Leicester City were stunned by Fulham 1-2.

On November 22, Spurs received a visit from Manchester City and managed to surprise Pep Guardiola’s squad, 2-0. This week, they will be tested by another EPL giant, Arsenal. This time they welcomed the North London neighbors.

Before the late midnight meeting on Monday, Mourinho’s squad excelled with 21 points after 10 games. Arsenal, on the other hand, are ranked 14th in the league as a result of a combination of 13 points with a bad record when they were only able to score five goals in eight games.

It is clear that the team operator, Mikel Arteta, who was once considered a talented coach by Mourinho, has been facing a difficult situation since taking over Unai Emery about 12 months ago.

In the last three games of the league, The Gunners were embarrassed 0-3 by Aston Villa at home, before being tied 0-0 with Leeds United and sinking 1-2 by the Wolves at home last week. Can The Gunners bounce back and at the same time disappoint the Spurs?

According to the record of the last meeting, Tottenham have never lost in the last six league games at home to Arsenal (4 wins 2 draws) since losing 0-1 in March 2014. It is clear that Spurs are currently on the sidelines in this North London neighbor action.

Yesterday, both teams played in the Europa League with Spurs tied 3-3 against Austrian club LASK in Linz to qualify for the knockout round while Arsenal also advanced after beating Rapid Vienna, 4-1 at the Emirates.

Meanwhile, Manchester United, who lost 1-3 to Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in the Champions League mid-week, should bounce back when visiting the London Stadium against West Ham while Chelsea are expected to have no problem welcoming Leeds at home.

Liverpool, on the other hand, are expected to face tough action against the Wolves at Anfield, despite getting an injection to beat Ajax 1-0 in the Champions League with youngsters while City are expected to easily tame Fulham who visit the Etihad. Enjoy watching.
