Cavani Chances To Prove His Ability

LONDON: Marcus Rashford insists Edinson Cavani proved worthwhile for Manchester United after the veteran Uruguayan striker changed his life on the farm to focus on Old Trafford.

Cavani signed a two-year contract worth £ 210,000 a week on the last day of the transfer and could make his first appearance at the Champions League group stage against his former club Paris Saint Germain early Wednesday morning.

The 33-year-old missed last Saturday when United won 4-1 over Newcastle – United’s first game since his purchase – due to a 14-day quarantine after arriving in England.

But Cavani is expected to play for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s squad in Paris.

“I’m going through a great moment, which no one felt was going to happen. It was going to be something amazing, beautiful emotions,” Cavani told TF1.

Cavani spent several months tending sheep on his farm near Uruguay and continued his interest in ballet.

Rashford hopes Cavani can reverse the impact made by Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who joined the club in 2016 after leaving PSG as an independent player.

“As a striker, it’s something I look forward to,” Rashford told Sky Sports.

“I hope he will come and score, because he will help us win and collect points. He can be an important player for us this season.”
