MILAN: Danilo D’Ambrosio and Romelu Lukaku scored twice late in the second half to help Inter Milan win a thrilling 4-3 opening season against Fiorentina, which was strengthened by Franck Ribery earlier this morning.

League champions Atalanta and Lazio also started their campaign with a win as they tried to prevent Juventus from winning their 10th consecutive league title this season.

Antonio Conte’s Inter managed to catch up with Fiorentina with three minutes left in the San Siro after Ribery was released.

Lukaku equalized in the 87th minute before the defense, D’Ambrosio scored the winning goal two minutes later.

“Three points is very important but you have to make an accurate assessment. What is positive is that we scored four goals, created a lot of chances, but the opposing goalkeeper played well and we faced that problem.

“We need to improve our performance and be more balanced after this,” said Conte, who led Inter to second place behind Juventus with just one point difference.

Meanwhile, Ciro Immobile managed to improve his game to help Lazio record a 2-0 victory over Cagliari, while Atalanta began to win 4-2 against Torino.

Immobile, who is also Italy’s international striker and Serie A top scorer last season with 36 goals, scored Lazio’s second goal in the final quarter of the game.

Lazio and Atalanta will meet each other in Rome next Wednesday.
