LONDON: Manchester United’s first formal offer to bring Jadon Sancho back to the Premier League worth 100 million euros was rejected by Borussia Dortmund, Sky Sports reported today.

Sancho, 20, has long been a target for United as they try to build a squad that finished third in the Premier League last season and advanced to the Europa League, FA Cup and League Cup semi-finals.

The England international joined Dortmund from Manchester City for a reported fee of £ 10 million three years ago but he excelled in the Bundesliga to become one of Europe’s best talents.

“The original offer was £ 73 million, raised to £ 91.3 million, which is less than Dortmund’s actual valuation, £ 108 million,” Sky said.

The German giants have insisted that Sancho will remain in the Bundesliga for another season after United failed to agree on Dortmund’s deadline of August 10.

Sebastian Kehl, Dortmund’s head of department, said after Sancho scored in a 5-0 win over the German Cup in Duisburg earlier this month: “Jadon Sancho will play for Dortmund this season.”
