LONDON: Harvey Elliott will return to Liverpool’s first team after 147 days of cracked and sprained ankles.
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has confirmed the 18 -year -old will be dropped for tomorrow’s FA Cup fourth round match against Cardiff.
Elliott was injured against Leeds in September and underwent surgery two days later.
“We have to thank Andreas Schlumberger (head of the recovery and performance division) but Harvey is the perfect customer.
“He is in the best care. We have to see what is best for him, starting the match or as a replacement. But he will definitely be listed for the Cardiff match,” Klopp said.
Elliott returned to full training last month and played in the under -23 game against Wrexham last weekend.
In the match specially arranged for Elliott, he scored a goal and assisted another throughout the 60 minutes of play.
In addition to Elliott, Thiago and Divock Origi will also strengthen Klopp’s squad after each recovering from injury. Naby Keita is also back from the African Cup of Nations.
Liverpool newcomer Luis Diaz is still in Paris to complete the necessary transfer documents.
