English Club Dominates Europe

PARIS: Tottenham beat LASK from Austria, 3-0 in the opening match of the Europa League campaign while Celtic lost 3-1 at home to AC Milan led by Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

English Premier League clubs – Spurs, Arsenal and Leicester also recorded victories which saw the English representatives perform well in Europe with six wins and one draw in the Champions League and Europa League matches.

Leicester got off to a good start in the Group G campaign with a comfortable 3-0 win over Zorya Luhansk of Ukraine.

James Maddison, Harvey Barnes and Kelechi Iheanacho are on the scorers list.

In Glasgow, Celtic struggled to overcome Serie A leaders Milan 2-0 in the first half as a result of goals from Rade Krunic and Brahim Diaz.

Mohamed Elyounoussi came close after the break but Jens Petter Hauge ensured Milan’s victory in Group H in the final minutes of the game.

Arsenal bounced back from behind to record a 2-1 win over Rapid Vienna and Rangers beat Standard Liege 2-0.

Benfica beat Lech Poznan, 4-2 in Poland in Group D action while Bayer Leverkusen thrashed France, Nice, 6-2 and Spain, Granada, over PSV Eindhoven, 2-1 in their first European campaign.
