LONDON: Rio Ferdinand believes Manchester United are out of the championship after losing points against Everton last Saturday.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s squad missed a chance to match the points of Premier League leaders Manchester City – who played less than one game – after Dominic Calvert-Lewin scored the 95th minute equalizer for Everton to tie United 3-3.

“We did not expect to be champions this season. We were too far behind Liverpool last season.

“You can’t expect a huge leap to win the league, it’s impossible.

“But I’m like other fans. You look at the league standings, you see the results, you get excited.

“Once you put yourself in that position, Man United need to get it. You are already there and there is a chance.

“When the opportunity is open, you have to take advantage of it. The problem is that we let the opportunity slip out of our grasp.

“You can see Man City with their experience, they get the opportunity and make good use of it.

“But United are stuck, not doing it smoothly. It removes us from the championship, unless we change our habits and be more consistent,” Ferdinand said.
