MANCHESTER: Bruno Fernandes says Manchester United have quality for improvement after his penalty gave a 1-0 win over West Brom.

The result ended a series of six Premier League games without a win at Old Trafford.

Portugal midfielder Fernandes saw his penalty saved by Sam Johnstone, but had a chance to take the kick back after the goalkeeper was found to cross the line on the first kick.

United were earlier rescued by the Referee Assistance Video (VAR) when their penalty, due to Fernandes’ rudeness on Conor Gallagher, was overturned.

“First of all it is very important to win the match, not because it is the first win at Old Trafford, but because we need points.

“We can do it better, we have quality to improve,” Fernandes said.

The victory soared Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s squad to ninth place and just seven points behind leaders Tottenham who played more than one match.
