BOLOGNA, Italy: A week before the kick-off of Euro 2020 in Rome, Italy thrashed the Czech Republic 4-0 in Bologna this morning which was also their eighth match without conceding a goal.

Ciro Immobile, Nicolo Barella, Lorenzo Insigne and Domenico Berardi all found the net for the hosts who will open the Euro campaign against Turkey next Friday.

Without the presence of Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Marco Verratti, who has yet to recover from a knee injury, Jorginho, the Champions League winners alongside Chelsea and Barella quickly set the pace for Italy.

Italian strikers Insigne and Immobile squandered an early chance before Immobile broke the deadlock in the third minute.

Barella, who often created threats from midfield, added a second before the end of the first half.

Immobile assisted Insigne for the third goal after receiving a deflected ball.

Berardi ended the contest with a fourth goal that cheered several thousand spectators at the Dall’Ara Stadium.

The hosts also celebrated the first appearance of Sassuolo striker Giacomo Raspadori, a surprising choice in the squad’s 26 -man roster with 12 minutes left.
