PORTO: N’Golo Kante is unconcerned about a proposal to nominate him for this year’s Ballon d’Or award following Chelsea’s victory over Manchester City in the Champions League final.

Thomas Tuchel’s side emerged European champions in Porto after Kai Havertz’s goal beat Pep Guardiola’s men at the Estadio do Dragao.

However, Kante’s performance in Chelsea’s midfield came to the fore and he was named the Player of the Match.

The Frenchman is among Chelsea’s main pillars this season and he is said to be a key contender for the Ballon d’Or later this year.

“It’s amazing. It’s the result of hard work, after all the difficulties this season.

“The Best Player of the Match award is the second thing. The main thing is the team effort. It’s our pride and joy.

“We fought to qualify for the finals. Today, we were rewarded for the difficulties we faced,” Kante said.

When asked about his potential to be nominated for the Ballon d’Or award, Kante said: “No, for now we want to celebrate the Champions League, and then the Euros, I will join the French team and hope to win it.”
