LIVERPOOL: Jurgen Klopp cheered a young Liverpool supporter by replying to a letter sent by the boy with a touching message.

Lewis Balfe, 11, sent a letter to his idol last summer expressing his concern to start high school and Klopp replied to him last week.

The German operator responded honestly, admitting he was also ‘so nervous’ when trying to overcome anxiety.

Through the letter Klopp replied: “Hello Lewis, ‘Can I begin by telling you a secret? I am also nervous.

“To be completely honest, I would be worried if I didn’t panic because if it happened it gave me a chance to turn that energy into something positive.

“I know it might be weird for a boy your age to think that a Liverpool manager can feel what you feel but I feel it.

“From your letter, it is clear that you think well and are very caring and if you have a quality like this, it is difficult to avoid feeling nervous.

“You ask me what I will do when my players feel like this and the answer is simple – I remind them how important they are to me and how much I really believe in them.

“I never doubted them and I never doubted it was the same with your family and yourself.

“You don’t have to worry about bad things going to happen.”
