LONDON: Liverpool are close to completing negotiations to sign talented RB Leipzig central defender Ibrahima Konate.
Jurgen Klopp has faced a crisis in the defensive line this season following injuries to Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez.
According to The Athletic, Liverpool are ready to strengthen their defense by signing Konate this summer.
Negotiations to bring in the young Frenchman are said to have entered the final stages and Konate will join the Reds as soon as possible.
With Leipzig not desperate to release the player, any interested team will have to pay the player’s release clause totaling £ 33 million rather than negotiate for a cheaper price.
The 21 -year -old migrated from Sochaux in 2017 and excelled in the Leipzig defense thus struggling with a number of injuries.
Konate has played more than 100 games with Leipzig and his actions have also been watched by some of the top clubs in Europe.
