LONDON: Leicester City jumped to second place in the English Premier League with a 4-1 win over Leeds, while Fulham beat West Bromwich Albion 2-0 for their first win of the season.

Brendan Rodgers’ side are just one point behind Liverpool leaders after winning five of the league’s first seven games of the season.

It was also the start of Leicester’s best season in England’s top league rivalry.

Harvey Barnes and Youri Tielemans put Leicester ahead before the action break on Elland Road.

Stuart Dallas closed the gap but Jamie Vardy scored his eighth goal of the season and a late Tielemans penalty ensured Leicester’s fourth consecutive league win away.

At Craven Cottage, Fulham avoided the start of the worst season since 1951 when Bobby Decordova-Reid and Ola Aina scored first-half goals to beat West Brom.

Scott Parker’s squad ended in a six-game losing streak – including five defeats.

“We realized how important this match was. I was happy to win. We played very well.

“Defeat will happen but it will not destroy us. Victory breeds confidence,” Parker said.
