Lewandowski’s Double Target

BERLIN: German league top scorer Robert Lewandowski could make his 200th Bundesliga appearance for Bayern Munich early Sunday morning during a visit to FC Union, where the German club had previously struggled.

Lewandowski could have achieved two great goals in Berlin as he was just two goals short of 250 Bundesliga goals for Bayern and his former club, Dortmund.

Lewandowski suffered a minor leg injury that prevented him from playing in the Champions League early last Thursday morning when he won 2-0 over Lokomotiv Moscow with the defending champions advancing to the last 16 as group champions.

“I think he’s 100 percent fit,” Bayern coach Hansi Flick said before heading to Berlin.

Lewandowski, the Bundesliga top scorer in the last three seasons, is now once again leading the scoring list with 12 goals.

Two of his closest challengers, Dortmund striker Erling Braut Haaland scored 10 goals while Leverkusen player Lucas Alario had seven goals – set aside due to injury due to a tight schedule this season.

Bayern have a slim advantage in the league standings with just one point ahead of Bayer Leverkusen, who will face them next week.
