PARIS: Paris Saint-Germain released the top spot in Ligue 1 after losing 1-0 at home to Lyon early this morning and faced a huge threat when Neymar was ruled out due to an ankle injury.

Tino Kadewere’s first-half goal secured Lyon’s seventh win in eight games and equal to Lille, who took the top spot after a 2-1 win over Bordeaux.

PSG fell to third place after losing for the fourth time in 14 games this season, but the main concern was Neymar’s injury following Thiago Mendes’ rudeness at the end of the match.

The Lyon midfielder was sent off due to a hard kick after watching the VAR footage while Neymar was carried out for immediate treatment.

“He is with physiotherapist and doctor, we have to wait for tomorrow’s test,” PSG coach Thomas Tuchel told French broadcaster Telefoot.

It was Lyon’s first win against PSG since October 2007, the last time they won Ligue 1.

It brings hope to challenge for the title this season with the top five teams only three points apart.

“We defended well, we destroyed their strength, and then played well to attack and score at least one goal,” said Lyon coach Rudi Garcia.
