LONDON: Manchester City have already made plans to bring in Barcelona star Lionel Messi next summer.

Messi was previously linked with a move to the Etihad Stadium after he signaled to leave the Nou Camp.

However, after two weeks of negotiations, Messi made a U-turn and decided to stay with Barcelona in the final year of his contract.

Now, City has started the movement to get the services of the best player in the world for free at the end of this season.

“He is a player who has amazing talent and is able to make a huge impact on any club in the world whether on or off the field.

“He is the best player in the world and the best player in his generation.

“I think any club in the world will see the possibility of him joining their team.

“When he voiced his desire to play with City proved that this team is the place where the best players want to join,” said City Chief Operating Officer Omar Berrada.

Messi will reach the age of 34 a week before his contract with Barcelona expires and it will provide an exception to City’s transfer policy.
