LONDON: Mason Mount jumped Chelsea to fourth in the English Premier League (EPL) with a 1-0 win over Liverpool, while Everton won by the same goal at West Brom.
Mount’s first -half goal was enough to add to the defending champions’ misery and at the same time continue Chelsea’s rise under new manager Thomas Tuchel.
Chelsea have not lost after 10 games in all competitions since Tuchel replaced Frank Lampard who was sacked in January.
They are now one point ahead of Everton, who have played one game less.
“Of course it’s a six -point match because when you win and the other one loses. There are still 11 games left and the competition continues,” Tuchel said.
Everton recorded three straight wins with Richarlison, once again the hero of Carlo Ancelotti’s squad.
Everton’s defense is also getting stronger after not conceding three games in a row.
Richarlison headed in a Gylfi Sigurdsson cross in the 65th minute for his fourth goal in four games.
“We are doing well now and are now competing for the top group in the league.
“The season is still long but we are in competition and happy to be there,” Ancelotti said.
