MANCHESTER, United Kingdom: Neymar made a surprise move after scoring two goals for Paris Saint-Germain in a 3-1 Champions League win over Manchester United by revealing his desire to return with Lionel Messi next season.

The Brazilian went through a great period with the six-time Ballon d’Or winner in Barcelona before migrating with a world record of 222 million euros to the French capital in 2017.

“That’s what I really want, to be on the field with him again,” said Neymar, who has a contract with PSG until 2022.

“I want to play with him, that’s for sure, next year we have to do it.”

Neymar is often linked with a return to Barcelona in 2019, but the Catalan giants have failed to raise funds to make an acceptable PSG offer.

Barca have agreed to cut salaries of 122 million euros against players this season after financial problems due to the COVID-19 pandemic and do not seem to be able to bring Neymar back next year.

On the other hand, Messi could move when the Argentine expires at the end of the season and has generally expressed a desire to move in August.
