LONDON: England striker Marcus Rashford has urged his team -mates to step out of their comfort zone when they are scheduled to meet Scotland in Euro 2020 at Wembley on Saturday.

Rashford was brought off the bench in the opening leg of Group D which saw England clinch a 1-0 win over Croatia, the team that eliminated them from the 2018 World Cup in the semi-finals.

Their old rivals Scotland, with their last meeting four years ago will certainly provide a different hurdle, said the Manchester United player.

“As a player, you certainly want to play in the biggest tournament and the most historic match. It will be recorded there with a match that we will remember throughout our careers,” Rashford said.

“Last time, I remember the atmosphere and also the environment there was so unique. It was going to be an intense match and we had to be smart in things that were outside our comfort zone.

“Scotland are showing effectiveness in a variety of ways, so we have to be vigilant with them and play with our style of football.”

Should England win, they will be the team of choice to top the group stage before being scheduled to meet Portugal in the top 16.

This means that England will face Cristiano Ronaldo who has already scored two goals against Hungary, thus placing himself as the top scorer in Euro history.

Rashford was still 11 years old and was in Manchester United’s youth squad when Ronaldo left Old Trafford to join Real Madrid and he is certainly excited to compete alongside the top player.

“I remember when his first appearance, he wasn’t the Cristiano you see like today, he was a different player, he was always dribbling, dropping players. With the passage of time, there was a change in his decision making, he turned into a ‘monster’, he scored goals and help the network.

“Right now, he scores in the left, right and center corners,” Rashford said.

Although England were the main options for a 0-2 win over Scotland at the hands of the Czech Republic earlier, Rashford still respects his opponent who is also lined up with top players such as Andy Roberston and Scott McTominay.
