LONDON: Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer admits the big impact was given to veteran Edinson Cavani in a 3-2 win over Southampton at St Mary’s.

United, who were two goals behind Jan Bednarek and James Ward-Prowse put the hosts ahead, bounced back after Cavani were included in the second half.

Cavani made a pass for Bruno Fernandes’ first goal before the former Paris Saint-Germain player equalized.

The 33-year-old then scored the winning goal at the end of the game for his third goal since moving as an independent agent in October.

“Of course a big impact. He’s number nine who wants to be in front of goal, he’s always on the move. I’m impressed with him.

“His movement is great and he is always in the right place. His determination to perfect the situation is key to a key striker,” Solskjaer said.

United jumped to seventh, two points behind the Champions League qualifiers, after setting a club record in eight consecutive Premier League victories away.
