LONDON: Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel have dismissed reports their club will compete for the signing of Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Braut Haaland.

Haaland emerged as one of the world’s best strikers after scoring 21 goals in 21 appearances in the Bundesliga this season.

The 20 -year -old Norwegian has pushed United to join Dortmund from RB Salzburg in 2019, but there is speculation Solskjaer will try again to secure the player’s signature at the end of the season.

Solskjaer coached Haaland in Molde and rumors of a move from Dortmund escalated after photos of the player’s agent, Mino Raiola and his father, Alf-Inge Haaland were in Spain.

He has also been linked with Manchester City, Real Madrid and Barcelona.

Asked if he would lose Haaland again, Solskjaer said: “I’m focused on the next two months and whatever happens in the world of football. There are too many places one can go.

“I’m just focused on the players who are here and even though I’m working with Erling, it’s not the right thing as a Man United manager to talk about Erling.

With German striker Timo Werner struggling to adapt in the Premier League, Chelsea need extra quality in their attack.

But Tuchel is reluctant to get involved in Chelsea’s potential for Haaland.

“I’m not going to answer that question, it’s disrespectful to the players and Borussia Dortmund,” Tuchel said when asked whether Chelsea would talk to Raiola.

“He is a Borussia Dortmund player and of course there is big news around him and the agent.”
