LIVERPOOL: Virgil Van Dijk is expected to return to action for Liverpool this week, said Jurgen Klopp.

The Reds will meet Hertha Berlin in a pre-season friendly this Thursday, and Van Dijk, 30, is on the list to be dropped.

“I hope – I’m not sure – that Virgil will have a chance to play in a few minutes.

“He looked fit during training and maybe we can put him in, but I need final confirmation, we’ll see later.

“If you look at these games as their recovery training, it’s just right.

“Joe (Gomez) is recovering. There is no competition between them, they have different injuries, but he is recovering.

“If Virgil can play now maybe Joe in the next game. In training both look good,” Klopp said.
