LONDON: West Ham jumped to fifth in the English Premier League after a 2-1 win over Aston Villa at London Stadium.

It was West Ham’s third consecutive victory after Villa striker Ollie Watkins failed to complete a late penalty and their equalizer in injury time was disqualified by VAR.

West started perfectly by opening the scoring as early as the second minute through Angelo Ogbonna.

Ogbonna’s first goal since December 2019 was West Ham’s fastest goal in the Premier League in four years.

Villa equalized in the 25th minute through Jack Grealish, but West Ham came back in front when Jarrod Bowen found the target a minute after the break.

It stems from Said Benrahma’s cross, which David Moyes included during the break, on his first touch.

Villa winger Trezeguet (Mahmoud Ahmed Ibrahim Hassan) got a penalty kick in the 74th minute but Watkins’ shot hit the crossbar.

Watkins also saw his goal revoked by the referee due to offside.
