MILAN: Luis Muriel came in from the bench to score the only goal of the match when Atalanta beat Bologna 1-0 in the Serie A match just now and returned to second place behind Juventus.

Muriel exploded after an hour as Atalanta extended their unbeaten record to 15 games next to six points behind Juventus, and two ahead of third-placed Inter Milan.

Sweden star Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored twice as AC Milan beat 10-man Sassuolo 2-1 and advanced to fifth place ahead of Roma and Napoli in the Europa League.

Atalanta have won six games in a row since the league resumed due to a COVID-19 curfew before a 2-2 draw against Juventus and tied 1-1 by Verona previously.

The squad from Bergamo is currently collecting 74 points this season with three games remaining, improving their 72 points in the 2016-17 season.

Atalanta coach Gian Piero Gasperini was ordered off the sidelines after a clash with teammate Sinisa Mihajlovic before a break with the Bologna coach.

“I have no right to be sent off,” Gasperini said. “But let’s talk about the match.

“We are looking for a consistent rhythm on the field, then we have 12 days to choose what we can do to prepare for the Champions League.”
