MILAN: Juventus star Cristiano Ronaldo says his passion and ambition remain high to break the record and dominate the world next season.

The Portuguese striker won his second Scudetto with Juventus, but despite scoring two goals over Lyon they were eliminated by the French club in the group stage of the 16 Champions League.

“In preparation for the third season with ‘Bianconero’, my spirit and ambition are as high as ever.

“Goals, victories, commitment, dedication, professionalism. With all my strength and valuable help from teammates and Juventus staff, we strive to dominate Italy, Europe and the world, breaking records,” the 35-year-old said.

Former Italian and Juventus star Andrea Pirlo replaces Maurizio Sarri as operator with the team aiming for the 10th consecutive league title next year.

But the failure of the team in the Champions League, the last of which was their title in 1996, was disappointing for Ronaldo – who was bought from Real Madrid in 2018 to help get the trophy.

Ronaldo recorded some personal successes last season, including the first player to score 10 or more Champions League goals for three different clubs.

He was also the first player to score 50 or more goals in the English Premier League, La Liga and Serie A, and the first to score 30 goals or more in a season for three leagues in Europe’s top five.

He matched the records of Gabriel Batistuta and Fabio Quagliarella when he scored in 11 consecutive Serie A matches.

In total, Ronaldo scored 37 goals in all competitions, a new record for Juventus players in one season.

But he missed five goals behind Ciro Immobile from Lazio who scored 36 goals to win the Serie A Gold Shoes last season.
