PARIS: Thierry Henry admits he was not surprised by Lionel Messi’s reaction when sent off in action between Paris Saint-Germain and Lyon.
When the game was tied 1-1, Messi, making his first appearance at home, was removed by manager Mauricio Pochettino and replaced by Achraf Hakimi.
PSG won 2-1 but Messi’s reaction to Pochettino as he headed to the bench became a hot topic.
The Argentine star glared sharply at Pochettino and refused to shake hands with the operator, making a gesture with his hand that he did not understand by the decision.
“No, it didn’t surprise me at all. Maybe he didn’t want to come out. We don’t know what they said.
“There’s no need to start a controversy. He definitely wants to keep playing so he can score,” Henry said.
Messi has yet to score for PSG in his three appearances since moving from Barcelona.
Henry was with Messi at Barca from 2007 to 2010, and he is confident his former team -mate will start to make an impact for PSG.
