MILAN: Juventus won their ninth consecutive Serie A title just now after a 2-0 win over Sampdoria despite still two games remaining.

Cristiano Ronaldo opened the scoring late in the first half in Turin and then added a second goal by Federico Bernardeschi in the 66th minute.

Five-time Ballon d’Or winner Ronaldo also failed to complete a late penalty but Maurizio Sarri’s squad widened the gap to seven points against second-placed Inter Milan to secure 36th ‘Scudetto’ title.

The title was the first for Sarri and extended the record started by Antonio Conte with three titles since 2012 and continued by Massimiliano Allegri with five more titles.

Sarri’s squad missed the chance to confirm the championship early last Friday morning when the squad with the title ‘Old Lady’ lost 2-1 to Udinese.
