Lampard Is Targeting FA Cup

LONDON: Frank Lampard is set to complete his good start as Chelsea manager by leading the Blues to a win in the FA Cup against Arsenal, early this Sunday morning.

Lampard went through four wins in the FA Cup as a Chelsea player but winning the first trophy after becoming a manager will be a more meaningful moment for the 42-year-old operator.

After driving Chelsea to the Champions League in the top four of the Premier League, Lampard will travel to Wembley to find a positive rhythm.

It is a testament to Lampard’s ability, in just his second season as a manager, he placed Chelsea as a growing team only after 12 months the club struggled.

When Lampard arrived at Stamford Bridge in June 2019 after a season as boss with the second division team, Derby, he delighted supporters who supported him for 13 years at the club.

Yet so many critics doubt whether Lampard is the right person to bring Chelsea back on track after problems created by Maurizio Sarri.

Sarri clashed with some Chelsea stars, isolating them with different training patterns and elusive tactics.

Solving problems in Chelsea’s dressing room is not only a problem facing Lampard, he also has to go through a ban on the transfer of players last summer and the sale of Belgian midfielder Eden Hazard to Real Madrid.

“A lot of uncertainty when I came here, can we continue without Eden Hazard? We realize we lost a great player,” Lampard said.

“We have a real passion in the group right now and it’s really a team effort.”
