BARCELONA: Lionel Messi has told Barcelona to take Marcelo Bielsa from Leeds to be the new boss at the Nou Camp.

Bielsa has yet to sign a new contract with Leeds, with his deal expiring this week after leading the club back to the Premier League.

And Messi wants Barca to try their best to persuade the 64-year-old to leave Yorkshire and replace Quique Setien with the La Liga giants.

Barcelona struggled on and off the field with key rivals Real Madrid winning the title despite the club’s financial problems which forced them to sell key players.

Setien’s position also poses a threat just six months after replacing Ernesto Valverde – with strained ties with Messi being among the main problems.

There is a new dilemma to be the club president with the current president, Josep Maria Bartomeu facing criticism in many respects.

Bartomeu prefers if the club legend Xavi becomes the new manager but the former midfielder finds it difficult with too many problems on and off the field.

And Messi – who has a huge influence at the Nou Camp – believes the best solution is to bring in Argentine operator Bielsa to solve the problem.
