LIVERPOOL: Jurgen Klopp has shifted his focus to Chelsea and Manchester City over player spending.

The Liverpool manager brought just one player into last season’s winning squad, including left defender Kostas Tsimikas from Olympiacos for £ 11.25 million.

“We are in a world that is currently full of uncertainty,” he said in an interview on BBC Radio 5 Live.

“For some clubs, it seems less important about this uncertain future. Owned by the country, owned by the oligarchs, that’s the truth. We are different clubs.”

Chelsea have bought Timo Werner – the player Liverpool tried to buy before the COVID-19 pandemic as well as Kai Havertz, Thiago Silva, Ben Chilwell and Judge Ziyech for a total payment of over £ 200 million.

City also want to complete three big moves to get Nathan Ake and Ferran Torres and want a new defender and Klopp said Liverpool must be more careful.

He said: “We went to the Champions League final two years ago, we won last year. We became the Premier League champions last season by being a club with our own image.

“We can’t change it in the blink of an eye and say, now we want to be like Chelsea.”
