LONDON: Jurgen Klopp has confirmed Liverpool ‘have no chance’ of signing Lionel Messi, but admits the presence of the Barcelona star will further boost the English Premier League (EPL).

Messi has stated his intention to leave the Catalan club after being disappointed with the problems facing Barcelona inside and outside the field.

The Argentine star was linked with a move to Manchester City and reunited with Pep Guardiola as well as several other clubs interested in such as Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), Inter Milan and Juventus.

Klopp revealed he wanted to have the player but he thought Messi would not go to Anfield.

“Interested? Who doesn’t want Messi in their team? But not for Liverpool,” Klopp said.

The former Borussia Dortmund manager also believes Messi’s presence will definitely make the EPL competition more intense if he joins Manchester City.

“Of course it will help City and make them harder to beat. It’s great for the EPL but I’m not sure if the EPL needs something like that,” he said.
