TURIN: Cristiano Ronaldo brings Juventus closer to their ninth consecutive Serie A title just now, after scoring two goals in a 2-1 win over Lazio.

The defending champions ended three games without a win as a result of Ronaldo’s second-half goal which led the team to eight points compared to second-placed Inter Milan.

Maurizio Sarri’s squad will win the title if they win early this Friday morning when Malaysia faces Udinese or on Sunday while waiting for Sampdoria’s presence, depending on the results of their challengers this week.

Lazio ‘s hopes for the first Serie A title since 2000 seem to have come to an end as the defeat put them in fourth place, 11 points ahead of their predecessors.

Ronaldo scored the first goal through a penalty after the break and then received a pass from teammate Paulo Dybala three minutes later.

The Portuguese has scored 30 goals this season, along with Lazio’s Ciro Immobile, who ended a three-match drought with a late penalty.

His second goal was the 50th goal in Serie A.

The 35-year-old wants to be the top scorer in three of Europe’s top five leagues after doing so in England and Spain.
