LONDON: Thomas Tuchel praised Judge Ziyech after the Chelsea winger’s ‘smart’ goal revived his side’s chances of chasing the Premier League title after a 2-0 win over Tottenham earlier this morning.
Ziyech broke the deadlock with a long -range volley early in the second half at Stamford Bridge.
Thiago Silva’s header killed off Tottenham, who were furious when Harry Kane’s goal in the first half was disallowed for foul play.
Third -placed Chelsea are now 10 points behind leaders Manchester City after finishing four league games without a win.
“It was a clever goal from the Judge. His technique was very clever. We worked hard for him,” Chelsea boss Tuchel said.
“The effort was amazing and we deserved to win. We kept trying and kept believing.”
Chelsea have beaten Tottenham three times this season without conceding a goal, including eliminating the London challenger in the League Cup semi -finals.
Failing to do so for the fourth time will be a huge threat in the Blues’ quest to catch up with City.
Chelsea will not play in the league until mid -February due to a winter break and involvement in the FIFA Club World Cup.
